Introduction
Gavin Jell is a Programme Director for an MSc in Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine (UCL). His research focuses on understanding how materials interact within biological environments, to create novel materials that can promote desirable cellular responses by; 1) preventing biomaterial fibrotic encapsulation and 2) promoting tissue regeneration (e.g. by creating hypoxia inducing factor regulating materials).
Major Fields:
Understanding and controlling the material-biological interface.
Tissue Engineering and regenerative medicine.
Nanoparticle cellular interactions.
Topics of Joint Research: The biological activity of bioactive glasses (towards the creation of improved materials with desirable cell responses).
Classes in Charge at NITech:
Environmental Ceramic Materials Seminar 2&4 Advances in Bioceramics Science and Engineering
