Dr. Dominique de Ligny is professor at the Institute of Glass and Ceramics, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Friedrich-Alexnder Universität (FAU) Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. He is specialized in glass structure and its modifications under extreme conditions: high pressure, hyperquenched, laser treatment. He also has interest on glasses optically-functionalized, like enhancing Nd3+ emission in glass and glass-ceramics after heat-treatments. He’s been engaged in material researches using a setup combining DSC, Raman and Brillouin spectroscopic measurements, known as ARABICA, to elucidate relationships between structures and properties of glasses. Since 2016 he starts collaborative works with professor T. Hayakawa and professor K. Hayashi in NITech to develop novel photonic glasses/glass-ceramics and perform anomaly X-ray scattering (AXS) experiment to clarify structures of glasses/glass-ceramics.
