Dr. Víctor Lórenz-Fonfría is, from 2015, a Ramon y Cajal independent researcher from the University of Valencia (Spain). He obtained his degree in Chemistry in 1997 (University of Valencia), and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2003 (Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain), under the supervision of Prof. Padrós. He moved to the group of Prof. Kandori (Nagoya Institute of Technology) in 2004, awarded by the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science. In 2008 he received a Marie Curie Reintegration Grant to continue his research back in Spain. In 2011 he joined the group of Prof. Heberle (Free University Berlin, Germany). His main research interests encompass dynamical aspects of secondary transporters (e.g. melibiose pemease) and of light-sensitive membrane proteins (e.g., bacteriorhodopsin and channelrhodopsin-2), mostly relaying on infrared spectroscopy in many of its forms. He also develops and uses spectral and kinetic methods of analysis. Currently, his research is mostly focused on adding light-sensitivity to membrane peptides.
