The Gouverneur Laboratory is dedicated to discovering new agents of medicinal value through major advances in fluorine chemistry. This research is divided into three interlinked categories:
(1) Chemical Advances for the synthesis of structurally and biologically compelling fluorinated molecules for applications in the life sciences and in medicinal chemistry;
(2) [18F]Radiochemical Advances for the production of [18F]labelled biomarkers for applications in molecular imaging (Positron Emission Tomography). Such advances are crucial to interrogate molecular interactions in organisms using radioemission imaging methods and to develop new synthetic [18F]labelled (bio)molecules to diagnose, monitor and treat diseases.
(3) Clinical Advances to alleviate suffering caused by disease. The goal is to translate our (radio)chemical discoveries into the clinic by supporting diagnostic and drug development programs.
